Kengtung and Tribes

After breakfast, drive outskirts of Kengtong (1 hr. drive) for a trekking tour into the Pin Tauk area. Lush mixed monsoon forest with a scenic view to the plain rice fields looking like a huge, green patchwork blanket. Visit Akha and Enn tribe’s villages. The Enn highlanders are one of Burma and Shan State’s most fascinating ethnic groups. Enn hill tribe lives on the higher slopes and possesses distinctively different costumes and beliefs from the other hill tribes particularly interest with their black teeth.

Picnic lunch will be served at Pin Tauk Waterfall. After lunch, continue trek to Akha tribe village and discover the way of life, belief, culture and costume. Afterward, drive back to Kengtung. Overnight in Kengtung.

After breakfast, about 1-hour drive to Pan Koi village which locates on the way to Thai border and 1300 meters above sea level. And continue about 1.5 hrs. trek to Akha villages which they believe in different religious (Buddhist, Animist and Christian) and observing traditional costume and Yan-gone Pottery Work. From there continue trek to Na Phi Phank village where Lahu and Akha tribes living together.

From there trek to Phata village and Pang Ma Phai where home for Akha tribe and learn more about their daily life. After that come back to car to go to Khun village of Mong Zine to observe the traditional Lahu Knives made by Lahu blacksmith. On the way back to hotel, visit Wa village of Joe Phyu. Overnight in Kengtung.

After breakfast, about a 1.5 hours scenic drive to hill station Loimwe, which is over 1600 meters above sea level and a former British hill station. The main attraction along the way is passing through the mountain, lakes, forests, terraced rice fields. It commands a magnificent view of the surrounding area and enjoys a temperate climate. Visit the old colonial building, local market, Four country friendship Pagoda and old church.

On the way back from Loimwe you will have several stops to visit different tribe villages. Wan Lun Shan Village, Ho Lup Akha Village where you can see the traditional Akha tribes with their colorful dresses; Nang Cho Wa Village and Pang-Y Lahu village on the left and right side of the road. Overnight in Kengtung.

After breakfast, visit Kengtung Central Colorful Bazaar where you can buy anything and everything. A great opportunity to get to know of local live and also to observe the different minority tribes from this area. Then, visit Wat Jom Kham Pagoda, where sacred hair relic of Lord Buddha is enshrined in it.

After that, transfer to Airport for a flight back to Yangon or other destination.
