Loikaw is the capital of Kayah State in Myanmar. One of the least visited but most picturesque places in Myanmar. It is just one-hour flight from Yangon. It is located in the Karen Hills area, near the State’s northern tip, just above an embayment on the Pilu River. Myanmar’s largest hydropower plant built is located about 20 km east of Loikaw at Lawpita Falls. The famous religious landmark of Loikaw is the places of worship, volcanic lakes, ethic group including Padaung, mysterious caves, Thiri-Mingalar Taung-kwe Pagoda Hill, scenically built on a hillock overlooking the vast expanse of the environs. You can watch desolately at the pilgrims and enjoy the marvelous landscape form the top. Flights to Loikaw can be a good option if your time is limited. The air-con bus is most people’s preference for getting to and from Loikaw.
