After breakfast at hotel, drive approximate 2.5 hours to Kayan community of Htay Kho. Upon arrival, we will receive by a local community trekking guide for a welcome and briefing session. We start our trek to the soaring peak of ‘Khaw Sa Maw’ mountain, which is considered to be sacred by local villagers. It takes 4 hours to climb to the peak of mountain. The downhill walk, back to Htay Kho takes 2 to 2.5 hours. During the trek, the village guides make regular, short stops and explain the importance of Khaw Sa Maw mountain in traditional Kayan hunting rituals, and spiritual life. The scenery is a mixture of mountain rice farmland, and pristine emerald forest. You’ll be rewarded with many, excellent viewpoints and scenic ridges. We will also enjoy a delicious, traditional, Kayan picnic lunch on the top of mountain. Back at Htay Kho Village, explore in the village and chat with Kayaw ethnic people, visit their home and learn about their fascinating culture and traditions before heading back to Loikaw.
