Tour Route: Mandalay-Monywa-Mandalay
After breakfast, drive to Monywa (about 3 hours, 135 km northwest of Mandalay and situated on the Chindwin River). En-route visit the very colorful Thanbuddhay Pagoda, a huge Buddhist temple covered with more than 500,000 Buddha images and next visit Bodhitataung (1000 Banyan trees) Pagoda and a huge reclining Buddha statue, completed only in 1995, crowns the low hill behind the temple.
Afterwards, visit the Kyaukka lacquer ware village; it is 12 miles from Monywa just beyond the Shwe GU Ni Pagoda. It is a big village and well known for the crafting of black lacquer ware called Kyaukka ware. Finally, visit Kyaukka Shweguni Pagoda, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Upper Myanmar. Overnight in Monywa.

After breakfast at Hotel, drive to Pho Win cave temples, locates on the west bank of Chindwin River and 25 kilometers west of Monywa and explore to fascinating Pho Win Hills. Thousands of man-made meditation caves will have amazed you. Some with special murals paintings. A covered stairway climbs a hill to the main cave shrine and there are large and small caves in the area filled with old Buddha images. There are over 40,000 images in these other nearby caves. Lunch at local restaurant and drive back to Mandalay and transfer to your hotel.
The two complexes are made up of a total number of 790 caves. In 7th century Srikhetera or 11th century Bagan temples are called ‘gu’ pagodas, or ‘caves” and contains what is considered by archaeologists to be the richest collection of mural paintings and Buddhist statues in Southeast Asia. And then, return to Mandalay. Overnight in Mandalay.
