After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the ruins of Kyauk Se (28 km, 35 mins drive). Visit Kyauk Se Market, and then visit Ta Moke Shwe Gu Gyi Pagoda, one of nine temples built by King Anawratha in the 11th century, the Shinpin Tamoke Shwegu site was abandoned in the 13th century. In 2009 more than 8,000 volunteers helped to excavate the site, unearthing intricate stucco carvings untouched by time – the only place besides Bagan to see such decoration. Next visit Shin Pin Set Thwar Pagoda. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant.
After Lunch, visit Dat Taw Taung Cave Temple that is 10 miles east of Kyaukse and needs to walk up to the top for 45 minutes with steep stairways, and then proceed to Shwe Tha Lyaung Pagoda; Sitting Buddha with Abaya Mudra & Wai Bu Hill for a panoramic view of Shan Mountain Range and Kyaukse Town. Next, drive back to Mandalay with a short stop at Paleik to visit a snake pagoda that features a statue of Buddha surrounded by snakes and the locals believe that this image brings good luck. Finally, visit Shwe Kyin Monastery in Mandalay, it is one of the oldest and most important for the whole country, and transfer back to your hotel.
